Just a trivia. do you know that Philippines has ten thousand peso coin, made of gold with a picture of the late president Corazon Aquino. and two thousand peso bill, larger that the size of the Philippines bills with the picture of the former president Joseph Estrada. But those money didn't circulate because of its high values.

I collected Philippine currency for many years and I was married to a Filipina. She got everything when we went through divorce. How do I replace everything she got? I have one P2 Piso bill that she missed in crisp uncirculated condition, everything else is gone. I had currency all the way back to the 1960's when I was stationed in the Philippines.

Hi! Thanks for the article.. anyway, @ Sander who said that: "I'm sorry if I have to ask, but what is really the meaning of the little alibata symbol (baybayin) engraved in the different denominations of our current coins? Kindly correct me if I'm wrong. The alibata symbol corresponds to "Pi". I guess it has a deeper meaning/purpose. Thanks.", that alibata means Filipino not Pilipinas as replied by Jeroen.

I think it just stand for "Pilipinas". The new banknotes also spell that name in baybayin now.--Jeroen.
