Reader Comments on 'What to see and what to do in Bohol, Philippines'

Bohol has a tremendous lot to offer, so much that many tourists have a hard time to select those most important things to see in their limited time. You can easily spend a week on the island, and just see the highlights.

If you're looking for a breathtaking, once-in-a-lifetime experience, Bohol is the place for you. I had the chance to visit Bohol for six days, and I can say without a doubt that it was one of the most amazing places I've ever been. The Bohol Countryside Tour is a must-do while you're there. You'll get to see some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, including the Chocolate Hills, the Tarsier Sanctuary, and the baffling Loboc River. And of course, no trip to Bohol would be complete without meeting the friendly, gentle Philippine tarsiers.

Bale P2000 new car pag countryside tour lang. Pwede kayo mag zip line at cable car dun. P350 yung zip line tapos pwede kayo kunan ng pics habang nasa zip line kayo. Price ng pics w/cd and 1 printed copy of your chosen photo is P250. There are approximately 50+ shots sa isang cd.

Can someone help me? My 10-year old niece, 14 year old cousin and I will be going to Cebu in December. We want to include Bohol in our itinerary. Our arrival is on Dec 12, 6am and we will depart on Dec 14, 10pm. Yung flight na nakuha ko which is a promo is Mla-Ceb-Mla. My plan is dumiretso ng Bohol from Cebu then balik ng Cebu the following day. I would love to go to Chocolate Hills, check the tarsier and then mag-stay sa beach ng first night kasi gusto ng beach ng pamangkin ko. Can anyone help me with the most cost-effcient way to go about it kasi I will be taking care of all the expenses? TIA.

Very helpful article on where to go and what to do in Bohol. It doesn't include the "fireflies" at night, though (I saw a signage when we were going back to our resort from Loboc). I've been to Bohol once and will be bringing my family there this weekend. I find the rate/s of my transport service quite reasonable for a 7 t0 8 hour Country Side Tour plus a side trip to Mag-aso Falls. Will probably take out some of the "usual" trips and replace them with places I got from this article. Thanks!

Hi there. My family and I will be in Bohol June 15 to June 18, 2011. Can you please help me with the following:

1) We will be coming from Cebu; what is the easiest, cheapest and shortest way to go to Bohol?

2) Can you recommend where to stay that's centrally located to all the points of interest and that's near or on the beach.

3) Can you recommend where to rent a car? How much is it per day? With driver? Without driver?

4) Do we need a tour guide or the driver can be the tour guide?

5) What are the points of interest (what to see and do)?

Take care. Thanks. :)

Most of your answers can be found by browsing the site, so I won't answer them here. Asking for a centrally located place near the beach is quite odd, as there is no beach in the center of Bohol. Still, both in Alona Beach and Tagbilaran you have a wide choice of tour operators that can show you round.--Jeroen.

There are a lot to see in Bohol. Personally I will recommend http://www.bohol.com/tourist-spotsactivities/tourist-spots/ to se what you can do. There are also many on this page. For you that asked about car rental. If you rent a car with driver the gas is included. Without a driver (self driven) you have to fill gas your self.

@AYU: Choosing Bohol and Boracay is an excellent decision. Although they offer comparatively similar powdery white sand beaches, the lifestyle, nightlife and pace are opposite in a wider sense. Going to Boracay you'll love the party mood there, the indulgence to mingle with people, savour food, or d water sports. Bohol, on the other hand, is quieter, more laid-back; ideal for relaxation and being in the company of nature. Bohol, however, offers more than beaches. Going for a countryside tour, you're going to learn why many people love to come back. I've been to Bohol for so many times, and I still love going back there. To answer your question, yes, there are several airline companies (4 I think) offering daily direct flights from Bohol to Manila, some of which offer 2 or 3 flights a day. However, from Boracay to Bohol, I think you'll need to go via Cebu then take a fast craft to Bohol. If you need assistance for the countryside tours, I know one which helped me during my last visit. Here's their website: http://orientalgateway.webs.com Enjoy your holidays!
