Geography of Bohol

IJsselstein, Tuesday, 26 March 2002 05:12:34

Bohol is an island located between latitude 9°30' and 10°15' North and Longitude 123°40' and 124°30' East.

With a land area of 4117.3 square kilometers, Bohol is the tenth largest island of the Philippines, and lies in the middle of the Visayas. Bohol is surrounded by other islands on all sides, and is thus shielded from the typhoons that often occur in the region, as well as from the heaviest rains.

Bohol is separated from Mindanao by the Bohol sea in the South and the island of Leyte by the Canigao Channel in the East. The Comotes sea in the North separetes Bohol from the Camotes Islands, and the Bohol Strait separates it from Cebu.

On the overview map below, you can see the location of Bohol in the Philippines.

We were there in October 2009 my wife is fillipino but she had never visited the island before, the whole place is fantastic the people are well friendly and polite, we hired a guide and car for the day, well worth the money 2500 peso and saw all the main tourist places, i recommend the river cruise and lunch 300 peso each and the chocolate hills WOW !! if you see just 1 thing there then go to the hills. Paradise found for me, i know where i will retire some day. Cheers Nigel.

I've been to bohol about 2 years ago. It was only for a day tour. For a very short span of time, I was in love with the place. Maybe next year I'm planning to go back to bohol. It's a very relaxing place for me.

I am most likely coming to Bohol in September. I am from Australia and I am hoping that it will be possibly to watch the Australian Rules Grand final as my team are a very good chance to make it. Can somebody please tell me I will or will not be able to view this when I am there?

I visited Bohol this July of 2009 and I was very happy to see the beautiful sceneries including the chocolate hills and having lunch at the Loboc floating Restaurant. I was together with my brother and sister but not my family. My wish is to go back there someday with my own family. My mother came from Panglao and my first visit was, when I was 5 years old. I stongly recommend to all, to visit this very nice place in the Philippines...Maayong Adlaw....

I have long wanted to visit the famous Chocolate Hills. Most of my friends have been to Bohol. I guess it's about time for me to do so.
