Reader Comments on 'Regular Ferry Schedules'

A large number of regular ferries connect Bohol with the other islands of the Philippines. They are the cheapest way to travel from island to island, and hence can be very crowded during high season (just before the Holy Week or Christmas).

Good day! Is there a ferry that only takes a few hours of travel from Cagayan de Oro to Bohol and vice-versa? I read here that it takes almost 9hrs to travel from Cagayan de Oro to Tagbilaran, Bohol. I would also like to know the frequency of the trip every day and every week. Thank you so much.

---Rodelyn

I am Canadian, we drive cars, the schedules and fares say nothing about taking a car on board. The last time we tried boarding a ferry to Bohol from Taloot Wharf they would not let us on. We even went there a day ahead to try to buy a ticket and the guard could not tell us how to purchase one. How exactly can this be done?

Bale P2000 new car pag countryside tour lang. Pwede kayo mag zip line at cable car dun. P350 yung zip line tapos pwede kayo kunan ng pics habang nasa zip line kayo. Price ng pics w/cd and 1 printed copy of your chosen photo is P250. There are approximately 50+ shots sa isang cd.

We are a family of 4 people (1 senior citizen, 3 adults) and we need to go to Tagbilaran and Panglao, Bohol from Cebu, June 15, 2011 - June 18, 2011.

1) Can you travel by car or bus? How far and how long will the ride be? Can you recommend a car rental service (with driver and/or without driver)? What about a bus company?

2) If we travel by boat, how long will it take from Cebu to Bohol? Can you recommend a cheap, fast, and safe company to use? Can you give us the schedule and the fare price?

3) Are the people who post or advertise their services legitimate? Do you check them yourselves?

Salamat po. :)

Most of your answers can be found by browsing the site, so I won't answer them here. I have never verified the services or legitimacy of the companies advertising themselves in the forums on this site, so use them with the same care you would normally use when hiring somebody.--Jeroen.

The ferry from Cebu Bohol vice versa was now a good service about 20 schedules daily or more to choose from. The only thing is the fares is too much high. About the catamarans Supercat,Oceanjet, and Weesam Express is really highest rate. Attention to the shipping operators,we suggest to reduce fares so that it could afford riding public and to save money..

Hi. Upon arriving in tagbilaran port, where will be the nearest bus terminal if we're headed to panglao island? About how much would be the estimated fare from tagbilaran to pangalao? thanks.

My friends and I are planning to visit bohol this coming january after the sinulog festival in Cebu. Just wanna know kung ilang minutes ang bus from Tubigon to Carmen, Bohol and ilang minutes din from Carmen to Loboc, then Loboc to Tagbilaran. Our flight sked is 3pm back to Manila.

Hi! we planned with my family will be going to baybay, leyte this coming december and we both decided also to visit bohol but we don't have an idea how to get there? Could you suggest a resort in bohol for tourist destination which is affordable will not cost much money and we are planning 2 stay overnight. tnx veri much. I hope you could help us on this.

Hi Ingrid, it is difficult to give you the exact answer of your question, simply because you didn't mention from which part of the country are you coming from. If you are coming from Manila, you can fly or take a boat to Tagbilaran city. If you are coming from Cebu, you can either take a boat to Tagbilaran or to Tubigon. The other ports of Bohol are in Ubay and Jagna for boats bounding for Mindanao. If you'd like to stay at the beach, you can visit Panglao and from there you can organize trip to some of the tourist spots here in Bohol such as chocolate hills.

Sorry we couldn't give you a suggestion about hotel, since the word “affordable” that variates on the person itself. For some people, 2,000 pesos per night is very affordable while the others 700 pesos is reasonable.

To give an impression of the hotels and resorts in Bohol you can visit our hotels and resorts list in the information directory. Some of the resorts have websites, so can you can take a look for the prices, accommodition and locations.---Rodelyn

From Cebu, by fast-boat to Tagbilaran, about 2 hours, including check-in time. From our home in the Netherlands, it takes at least 24 hours, 1 hour to the airport, 3 hours to check-in, 13 hours flight to Manila, 3 hours to catch a connecting flight to Bohol, 1 hour to Tagbilaran, 1 hour wait and 2 hours by bus to our home in Bohol. It may take more or less time, depending on where you come from.--Jeroen.

I have found out about the ferry from Bato,Leyte to Ubay, Bahol. There are several per day. I was told the best time to be there is 8am. I dont know which one takes cars and buses, but as soon as I know I will let you know. The way they drive, the bus takes less than an one and a half hours from Ormoc.
Ken Burns wrote:

Below I posted some info. The trip to Bohol is only 2.5 hours. (That beats the hell out of going to Cebu, City and then wait for the ferry to Bohol, then another 2.5 hours.) The trip From Palompon to Malapascua via Bogo, Cebu. 2 hours to Palompon from Ormoc,Leyte., then 2 hours on a ferry to Bogo, then another hour on a bus to Maya, then your short boat ride to Malapascua or Bantayan Island.

Ferry from Palompon,Leyte to Malapascua. This is very good info here. Palompon is very close to Ormoc. Take the bus to Palompon, then the ferry which runs everyday to Bogo, Cebu, from there you take a bus to Maya,Cebu then a boat to Malapascua. This saves a lot of time, and you dont have to go to Cebu, then a 4 hours bus ride to Maya. You will save 2 hours of your day or more going this route. My soon to be wife lives in Albuera, Leyte so I look for all the short cuts to get to the good places fast.

Some shipping companies update their schedules almost every week.. or depending on the season... but here's a webpage that can really help you especially if you're going to Bohol... go to www.schedule.ph.

Hi, me and my team are planning to go to Bohol for a team outing. We wanna know the availability of the cheapest ferry from Cebu City to Bohol vice versa. How much does it cost? We are planning to go on an overnight outing; leaving Sunday and be back to Cebu on Monday.

The cheapest way to Bohol is via Tubigon. You can take a boat hourly in the morning. From Tubigon, you can take a bus, V-hire or contact a car rental beforehand to avoid hassle. You can find some car rental companies in our business directory.

Thank you for your exhaustive research on the ferry schedule but I think it did not answer the question by the reader. The reader wants to go to Bohol via Bato - Ubay. It means he would take a bus to Bohol through ( roro ). So he wants to know the roro vessell that ply from Matnog, Sorsogo to Allen, Northern Samar and a Roro Vessel from Bato, Southern Leyte to Ubay, Bohol. So if you knew the Schedule of these roro vessells and their company, it will be appreciated very much. Thanks.

From Bohol, you can take a boat from Pier 3 in Cebu to Tubigon or to Tagbilaran from pier 1 or 4. From Tubigon, you can take a bus or van for Tagbilaran. Most hotels offers package tour and for the hotels information you can check out on our Business directory.---Lyn

Hi, we planned to go to Bohol by land from Manila. How long does it take and what are the the provinces that we have to pass through. Thanks and keep up the good work, I find this site very helpful.

Since Bohol is an island, you can't go to Bohol by land from Manila. You'll have to take a boat, and probably a few times, to reach Bohol. However, if you really want to go by car, you'll probably have to drive to Naga, from there to Sorsogon, and then Matnog, from where you can take a Ro-Ro (Roll-on-Roll-off) ferry to Allen in Samar. From there you can continue (warning: bad road condition) to San Juanico bridge, and cross over to Leyte. Continue to Ormoc, where you can take another Ro-Ro to Cebu. In Cebu, then, you can finally take a Ro-Ro to Bohol. I have no clue about the time it will take, but guess six days at least. Maybe it is more convenient to have your car transported by boat directly from Manila to Tagbilaran, Bohol. This boat will take about 25 hours. You can either go on the same boat or fly to Tagbilaran.--Jeroen.

Hi, what's the fastest way to get to Tubigon from Cebu? I would also like to get the daily schedule on the ferries to Tubigon. Thanks.

There is a fast-ferry from Tubigon to Cebu, takes about 45 minutes. We regret we cannot give the schedules here, as they are never announced but on a painted shield outside the pier, and change often.--Jeroen.

Advertise your local ferries which services the local in Tubigon..... How about the schedules of your ferries in Tubigon????

We would love to publish all the ferries schedule going in and out Bohol, but unfortunately we don't have their schedules and no websites to refer to. Also, shipping schedules change often. One thing I'm sure is there are always regular boats going to and from Tubigon and relatively cheaper than Tagbilaran as well.--Lyn

Nice to have this site it helps a lot for people like me who are dying 2 visit Bohol..I'm from Samar & never been 2 Bohol, though I frequently visited Cebu w/c s pretty close to Bohol (one & a half hour fr Cebu-Tubigon by sea). That's what I know so far! I wanna know exactlty how much it cost or fare Cebu-Tubigon & fr. Tubigon how I would get to your tourist destinations like Chocolate hills, Loboc river, Panglao island etc. that will not cost much money or I just want 2 commute if possible. Are there buses or jeepneys fr. Tubigon to chocolate hills, Loboc, Panglao? Could u suggest a resort in Panglao 2 stay overnight that s affordable, at how much? Thanks a lot, I hope u could help me on this! God Bless.....
