2007 Conbusac Biennial Convention on July 26-29 in San Francisco
True broken series of Boholanos who are making “wave” in the Big Manila has found Paolo Regor Aboloc (who’s known in the showbiz circle as Paolo Ramirez) who’s being build up by ABS-CBN Talent Center Star Circle. Paolo appeared as a regular cast of the famous teleserye Calla Lilly. He was Mr. Criminology of the University of Bohol before he joined showbiz. Other Boholanos who made it are Mark Sepe, Luther Olorvida and Mayumi Lugod who is this year’s Miss Makati Tourism. Another Boholana Starstruck 1st Princess Rich Asuncion will appear as a regular mainstay of GMA 7’s Impostora directed by another award-winning Boholano director Maryo de los Reyes.
Greetings from the Golden State! These warm greetings are from Mr. Ted Apalisok, the president of the Confederation of Boholanos in the USA and Canada (Conbusac). The 2007 CONBUSAC Biennial Convention on July 26-29 in San Francisco is fast approaching. Updates about the convention can also be viewed at the convention website at www.tanocal.org/convention2007
Here’s Mr. Apalisok’s letter for Conbusac members and participants:

All member organizations are reminded that in consonance with our Constitution and By-Laws and by a Council of Leaders resolution during its July 24, 2006 Council Meeting at the Ladaga Inn in Dauis, Bohol each member organization is assessed an annual membership fee of $100.00 beginning with fiscal year 2007. Said fee shall be paid to CONBUSAC on or before July 1, 2007. Please mail your check to our Treasurer, Pempe Gonzaga at 5200 Cutter Lane, El Sobrante, CA 94803.
Individual members of fee-paying member organizations, who registers for the Convention shall be deemed entitled to participate and be recognized in all official CONBUSAC business and social functions including, but not limited, to voting and be voted upon during elections.
Please refer to my October 7, 2006 communication to the Council of Leaders expounding, among others, this matter.
Lastly, I wish to remind everyone that our biennial convention is but one of the reasons for CONBUSACs’ existence – and that is to foster camaraderie among Boholanos in the United States and Canada. The other reason is to be able to raise funds and extend assistance to Bohol for the benefit of its people.
I am appealing therefore, for everyone’s participation so that Boholanos not only can savor once more the camaraderie that engulfs each and every one of us but more so contribute towards the more noble purpose of helping the people of Bohol.
TED APALISOK
President
With Gov. Erico Aumentado and Vice Gov. Julius Cesar Herrera still in Capitol, Bohol scenario is back to normal.
I have never been a canvassing addict, but the canvassing proceedings had me staying until the wee hours (until 12 midnight to catch it for GMA 7’s News). It’s almost one month that the winners in the May 2007 elections were proclaimed, I’m missing the best telenovela of 2007.
It was, by all intents and purposes a not so lengthy telenovela with an engaging plot (with the petition of erstwhile governor Rene Relampagos who run for congressman in the 3rd district) and compelling performances by everyone involved in the proceedings. Everyday, every night, the story took on a new twist with surprise personalities... without a teleplay writer to connect to each episode the canvassing proceeded like a cliff hanger that kept even the most cynical of all on the edge of our seats.
Now that everything is over, I can look back to it as an extended play TV serial; with performers that deserve to be nominated for honors in the performances categories. The coverage allowed us to take a first-hand look of the board of canvassers, lawyers, watchers, party list representatives, PNP personnel, fashionista, intimidating people, etc, behaving in an extraordinary situation.
No copying, the Provincial Media Affairs Office (PGMA) Quick Count was better than any other quick count bodies.
Lest we forget fast, the canvassing was attended by luminaries and fashionistas! Call it power dressing. Lawyer Aleckoy Lim was a gentleman on his Versace pants with Polo shirt. Her daughter lawyer Alissa Ann was so elegant when she appeared in one of the proceedings! She might be Evan’s angel. Lawyer Eladio Jala was no exemption when True spotted him wearing original Guess pants. Another well-dressed was the newly elected Tagbilaran City councilor Kit Oppus.
These people have professional credibility and potential performance based on the way they look during the canvassing. There’s more. Buying high quality, classically styled clothes can give a person an emotional advantage, a feeling of self-confidence and self- assurance others can also sense. They got more attention – and admiration - when you go beyond the acceptable code and dress for the “position” you ultimately want to get.
Trinidad newly-elected Mayor Judith “BB” Cajes was an instant crowd favorite when she appeared in the canvassing proceedings together with her hubby Cong. Ondoy Cajes.
I would like to mention lawyer Lord Marapao IV for his outstanding performance in the canvassing when he interrupted the proceedings and “shook” the head of the board of canvassers when he filed his petition for his counsel. The canvassing was aborted for almost two hours with his cool and calm disposition, clarity of thought when asking a question….and puzzled lawyer Veronico Petalcorin, the Comelec provincial supervisor.
And who could forget Police Senior Superintendent Edgardo Casiguran Ingking, CSEE, PNP-Bohol provincial director and his men for keeping the peace and security during the elections. I knew Sir Ingking (he was then the Tagbilaran City chief of police) then when we interviewed him for GMA 7’s Jessica Soho Reports.
