I want to find out the reason why certain hotels and resorts in Bohol are not granting the 20% discount for senior citizen for their room accomodations.

Probably because the owners consider this law ridiculous. It is a typical case of politicians giving away gifts out of somebody else pockets. Although it may seem laudable to help senior citizens in this way, this law really makes no economic sense. Most resorts in Bohol are completely out-of-reach for the senior citizens that really require this type of support, and those who can afford it probably don't need a discount. It still is the law, so my advise to resorts would be to increase all listed rates by 25%, and then apply the 20% senior citizen discount to get back at the original rate, then give all other visitors the same 20% discount for whatever reason you can think of -- rates are negotiable anyway -- the unfortunate net result of this piece of legislation being that list prices appear higher than they are, which will have a negative impact on the attractiveness of the Philippines as a tourist destination.--Jeroen.

Hi everyone! If you are thinking of extending your Visa through a Travel Agent DO NOT USE BOHOL TRAVEL & TOURS. Sarabia-co-Torralba Building. I used them for 3 years and they proved to be the rudest people you could come into contact with!!! Lucky for me I found another Agency. So all Europeans Listen Up DO NOT USE THEM YOU MAY WISH YOU HAD NEVER GONE INTO THEIR OFFICE, we are not used to being treated as if we were 'dirt on the floor' can you imagine a European Agency treating anyone with anything less than the utmost courtesy whether the customer be right or wrong?

One thing makes me wonder about this comment... How come you've been using them for three years if they are so rude? I would stop patronizing a rude business after the first time, unless I really have no alternative. As I have expressed several times on this site, you can perfectly arrange your visa extensions yourself in about half an hour at the Bureau of Immigration office in Tagbilaran (in the very same building), without the help of an agent.

Maybe you are confusing the business with the Bureau of Immigration officials themselves? I didn't find them rude. They just do their work, and expect people to abide with the rules and show some respect, so for example, if you apply late for an extension, you might not get it, and if you start shouting about it, consider yourself lucky you're not arrested. They are the authorities...

On European immigration rules, I can only say this: a Filipino trying to get a visa extension in the Netherlands has to go through more bureaucracy, and shelve out 39.000 pesos or more for a one year extension, if they can get it at all.--Jeroen.

Lila Bohol is basically a sleepy town, being 5th class town by category Lila is once abundant in its natural resources we back in 1975 when I left the place in search for greener life in Manila. Its over three decade now when I came back to attend Bgy. Fiesta, I was really in the state of shock when I the shore line from the back of our new municipality building up to punta macalingan and ask myself in the air..."Where The Pearly Sand and Shallow Habitat Fishes Goes?" Is there any body from the good municipality Lila out to protect our resources and save it from further destruction.
