What about halang-halang? I grew in Bohol up to my high school days. Then I worked in Manila for 20 years before I migrated here in the US. During my younger days in Panglao, me and my barkadas used to cook young chicken (labuyo or dumalaga) We choped it like making dinuguan. Then we mixed lot of hot pepper (sili). Dinidikdik namin yan ng bote balot ng dahon sa saging ug isagol sa ginisang manok. Try this and you will notice that you're sweating like you're jogging couple of miles. Masarap walang panalo ang Bicol Express. I know for sure that this food originates in Bohol (Panglao).

Hi Leo, I am an avid reader of your column.I was raised in Bohol & now residing in Cavite. With regard to Bol-anon cookfest, oy okey na kay dugang attraction sa mga tourist. "Humbang nangka" may have originated in Bohol, diri sa Luzon ginataan man ila ngan pero lahi ra jud humba sa atoa.Ambot kakaon kana ba tinadtad manok unja sagulan ug botong (young coconut) igisa butangan sawite, sus arang lamia na.
